What is Security Meetup?
Security Meetup is a non-profit, agenda-free networking event, held every other month in Gothenburg, for anyone interested in cybersecurity.
It’s not a lecture or a presentation, nor a sales or marketing event.
It’s simply a space to meet people, share experiences, and grow the community – one conversation at a time.
Who is it for?
Students, professionals, career changers – and anyone simply curious about cybersecurity.
Whether you're writing your first line of code or leading a security team, you're welcome here.
We believe that diversity of experience and background makes the community stronger.
There are no entry requirements, no name tags, and no pressure to impress. Just come as you are.
Why does it exist?
Because we need more inclusive, low-barrier spaces in cybersecurity.
Security Meetup exists to lower the threshold for getting involved in the field – whether you're just starting out or looking to reconnect with the community.
By making networking open, relaxed, and accessible, we aim to:
challenge outdated ideas about who belongs in tech
strengthen connections between different parts of the cybersecurity ecosystem
help create a more resilient and representative industry
How does it work?
We meet every other month in central Gothenburg.
The format is simple: grab a drink, pull up a chair, and say hi to someone new.
There are no presentations, no tickets, and no gatekeeping – just good conversations in a casual setting.
Want to join? You don’t need to sign up – just show up.

Who’s behind it?
Hi there, I´m Cathleene – an application security professional who, until recently, was a cybersecurity student myself.
Security Meetup was born out of something I experienced firsthand:
Just how difficult it can be to get into the field, especially without the “right” connections or background.
I saw a real need for spaces where students, professionals, and the curious could meet on equal terms – without pressure, expectations, or gatekeeping.
What started as a simple idea has now grown into a recurring meetup series and a broader community initiative.
I’m still learning every day, and that’s exactly the point:
This is a place for all of us to learn, connect, and build the future of cybersecurity – together. 🥰
